Aircraft Mechanic

Dresden | from 08/01/2025

Aircraft mechanics in manufacturing technology mainly work in the production, partly in the maintenance of entire aircraft. Following technical drawings, you assemble individual parts into assemblies or entire aircraft. Additionally, you mount technical system components in the cell/aircraft structure and install the interior equipment. Quality checks and documentation of work are also part of the professional tasks.

What will you learn?

  • Among other things, you will learn how to work with materials such as plastic and aluminium

  • You will work on complex structural components and gain an insight into aircraft mechanics

  • In the further course of your training, you will learn how to dismantle/assemble typical aircraft parts, components and systems

  • You will also learn how to carry out routine work while adhering to the specified deadlines and timelines and how to assemble complex assemblies based on work orders

  • In the third and fourth year of their apprenticeship, our apprentices learn in our production departments under the supervision of competent specialists

  • You will also be taught the theoretical basics in the form of block lessons at the ‘Gustav Anton Zeuner’ vocational training centre in Dresden

What you need to bring

  • To train as an aircraft mechanic specialising in production engineering, you should have completed school with a good secondary school leaving certificate or A-levels.
  • A personal interest in mathematics, physics and technology is a good prerequisite for this profession
  • You should have strong manual dexterity, good powers of abstraction and technical and mathematical understanding
  • You must work accurately and reliably in order to fulfil the high quality standards of the aviation industry

What our trainees say

I am interested in large aeroplanes and have wanted to work on large machines for a long time. I used to repair and modify my moped myself at home. This sparked my interest in pursuing a skilled trade. EFW has a great working atmosphere and you can learn many different trades and improve your own manual skills.

David M. (19) - Aircraft Mechanic

I used to work with my father on domestic installations and discovered my passion for craftsmanship at an early age. I enjoy making things myself that I can touch. My job is not an everyday one and allows me to get closer to and into the aircraft than anyone else. The challenge of being able to read technical drawings of assemblies of a large aircraft in English makes me proud.
